Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp and Me
Incidentally, this ditty has nothing to do with anyone named jack nor anyone named diane, but just
two American kids growin up in the heartland
Jacky’s equivalent is gon’ be a biomedical engineer
Diane’s equivalent is neither a debutante nor does she aspire to no more than the backseat of Jacky’s car. Rather, she’d like to write or something.
Suckin’ on chili dogs at the Varsity. twice this summer!
Diane’s equivalent is sitting in her chair, because Jacky doesn’t really eat chili dogs, and besides, she was there with her midwestern friends and her scottish friends.
Her own hands are between her knees, thankyouverymuch! Hand check!
Later, our young protagonists run off
Beneath a shady tree, though it’s very late at night
Sit on a blanket
And do as they please.
RATED G!
Oh yeah life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone
Oh yeay say life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone, they walk on
Jacky’s equivalent sits back reflects his thoughts for the moment
Scratches his head and does his best James Dean.
Well you know Diane’s Equivalent, we oughta run off to just somewhere, anywhere.
Diane’s equivalent says Baby, you aint missin’ no-thing
Jacky’s equivalent say a
Oh yeah life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone
Oh yeay say life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone
We’ll let it rock
Let it roll
Let the Bible Belt come
And Save My soul in my own funny way.
Having lost 16 some time ago and not a girl, not yet a woman :), still waiting on changes, Johnny.
Oh yeah life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone
Oh yeay say life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin is gone
Little ditty about Jack and Diane
Two american kids doing the best they can.
