people say she’s crazy…

So in the last few days, what with the humidity and the traveling and such, I’ve been threatening to hack off all my hair. Okay, not all of it, because I don’t want to appear “butch” as one lovely young man told me I would. But I don’t want a mullet and I don’t want an old lady ‘do… I just want it off my neck and short again. Because frankly, I never wear it down like I said I would and I feel a little bit like I’m getting into that lovely ponytail rut that we all remember so well from 7th through 10th grades. Granted, I no longer own a wide variety of “scrunchies” and I sometimes vary my part and I sure as hell don’t blow dry out any bangs with a round brush, but i still just yank it back into a bun every afternoon. I guess I could begin an intensive regime of training myself to get used to it being down, but it’s in my face all of the time (”i know that’s not enough…” thanks bono). hum. maybe i actually will try that and put off the chop.

oh but the point of this blog was to say that i enjoy watching season 4 of sex and the city because it gives me hair confidence. carrie’s hair looks so amazingly bad and I love it. in honor of it, I have (temporarily) parted my hair down the middle and encouraged frizz. because though i may not be a 5′1″ former child star married to matthew broderick who gets to make out with chris noth and john corbett fairly regularly and has a gigantic staff of makeup artists, hair stylists, and fashion consultants, i am a writerly, frizzy-haired, self-centered, frequently stupid, frequently mismatched laptop owner who fancies herself knowledgeable about some things in life. maybe all i need is some lip gloss.

okay, back to the puritans.
