“good luck exploring the infinite abyss.” - andrew largeman, played by zach braff, as he leaves albert’s house, to albert, played by denis o’hare, who lives in a boat next to a giant bottomless quarry outside newark. albert supposedly guards the site, but he actually explores it at night.
“you too.” - albert to andrew, on andrew’s way out…
i saw this movie “garden state” tonight with ian. zach braff (NU alum, guy from scrubs) wrote it, directed it, and starred in it, and then had a nice q&a with us free screening guinea pigs. it was really fantastic. on august 6 when it opens in theaters, go see it. it’s really really well done.
so to get this theater i had to walk like 6 blocks from work. down wacker, over the river, up north michigan. it was a gorgeous afternoon–still really sunny and warm but not hot at all at 5:30 and just clear blue sky. so i step out of the building and the end of the last song from the morning trip with the ipod finished, and as i took off down wacker, “georgia on my mind” came on. and it was totally perfect, for some reason. those 3 and a half minutes that ended right as i stepped off the bridge and passed between the wrigley building and the trib on michigan… i knew i was in the right place. georgia on my mind, but i’d always rather be here.
so i bought myself a twin set and went to see the movie and it was a brilliant, brilliant monday.
