devoid of labor

There’s a Brian Andreas print? Quote? I don’t really know how to categorize his… stuff… but anyway, there’s one called “Successful Holiday,” and I would like to apply it to this, my Labor Day Weekend:

Rules for a successful holiday:

1. Get together with the family

2. Relive old times

3. Get out before it blows

I have done fairly well with this. Family visited. Old times were relived. But sadly, I forgot to get out before it… blew. So I slept till noon today after having a really disturbing 9 am - 12 pm dream involving a large sleepover at the Garber’s house (where I haven’t spent, um, any time since I was probably thirteen?) which was really dark for some reason and had very confusing shower curtains. And I had on 4 pairs of underwear. Seriously, and I didn’t even have anything weird to eat before I went to bed. My brain just knew it was a holiday I guess.

So anyway, I got up and moved my ass directly to the couch. Did you know that on Labor Day, Food Network does a “The Secret Life Of…” marathon, TNT does a Law & Order marathon, and TLC does a What Not to Wear marathon? And the US Open is on, and E! has some great true hollywood stories on, and… I sat on the couch till 4:15. Actually that’s kind of a lie: I got up to make eggs and a bagel. And popcorn. Blame that one on the food network.

So here I am, 5:15 on labor day. I got dressed and made my bed so I would at least feel like I did something. But it’s not sunny out, my neck hurts from all of my hardcore sleeping, and I’m feelin’ pretty useless.

Also, I forgot to wear my white shoes the other day. I had this whole planned cute white skirt brown top white shoes outfit… but now I don’t even remember where I was going to wear it. Ah well. Doesn’t matter. It’s still muggy and hot. The A/C is on, hopefully not for much longer.

Ahh, television on Labor Day. Yesterday the Scifi channel was doing a bunch of the Planet of the Apes movies, which I have to admit to watching a chunk of. I don’t enjoy the movies at all, but I find them wierdly fascinating - there’s so many of them! So they just sort of drew me in and hypnotized me. Fortunately today they were doing the far inferior Outer Limits marathon.

Of course, I Love the 80s Strikes Back is on VH1… I predict severe brain rot. Oh Hal Sparks and Michael Ian Black… is there anything you don’t know?

As a male, I will never understand the concept of “planning an outfit.”

And the us open was great to watch. :D
