congratulations on chilling out since 1995. it’s really admirable, and i would love to benefit financially every time i feel like i’ve grown spiritually–so good thinking on that.
that being said, re-recording “jagged little pill” acoustically, though bitchin and totally doin’ it for me, makes me realize that i have not chilled out since 1995, at least not to the degree i’d like to. though i do understand that whole “you oughta know” thing a little better now, i may have to put the chilled-out version of you on the shelf till 10 years from now, when i can say that my life has changed too. because though i’m not someone with a lot of anger, i still like you better angry.
and then i’ll be really uncool because i’ll be listening to a 20-year-old album and totally unable to relate to current rock. so i guess unthankyou for ruining that one for me… 10 years from now. unless in the 2010s the 1990s are really in like how in 2004 the 80s came back. Now i’m giving myself a trend headache.
i guess i should have tried harder not to be in 7th grade when JLP came out the first time (and George gave it to me for my bat mitvah! thanks George!), but that wasn’t my choice. and oh man, if you could have seen me then… ::shudder::. but at least i didn’t know what you were talking about most of the time. that probably made it funnier to innocent bystanders, but it made me feel cool, and trust me, i needed to feel cool in 1995.
anyway, good luck on tour. enjoy being 30something and angstless now, for the rest of us. i guess chick angst is out of style now anyway. you brought it in and you took it out. how do we express our crazies now? i fear you may be looking at it. damn you, internet!
