Well haaaaaay! Did y’all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukwanzadan? I sure did.
In fact, you might say my holiday season began when my GRE ended way back on December 2. I finished the test, got two questions into the experimental section, decided I was not in the mood for 45 more minutes of math, got my score and boogied. Feeling pretty good about myself (and, surprise, totally disoriented after exiting a different door than I entered), I strolled around in the loop for a while looking… for the bank. Or a bus I could take. Instead, I found the Christkindlmarket, where I bought myself a wee boot of hot spiced wine and a bag of gingerbread bites. Then I was disgustingly nauseous, got on the bus, went home and slept for four hours.
That general sequence of events (trial, wandering, consumption, nausea, nap) has pretty much characterized my December. Except instead of nap, I often find myself watching the Discovery Channel. Or knitting. So that, three of you who read this, is where I have been. Working my tail off, having existential crises, eating like it’s going out of style, regretting all the eating, and watching some dorky guys blow stuff up. Or, finishing my knitted backpack, knitting flowers, knitting a hat, knitting anything I can get my hands on.
I also spent some quality time buying stuff for people, which is always fun. Mainly, that stuff was in the form of hipster tshirts, but I was nice enough to get a few nontshirt items. You know who you are. Mom. I also started taking pilates classes, so one day I might actually look like the 5’7″ I am. That would be nice!
The consumerism, knitting bug and pending travel plans have put a kink in the cooking efforts. Anyway, as you can tell from the above hodgepodge of paragraphs, life has been simultaneously slow and chaotic. I thought I should do something to commemorate the end of 2006, a year in which many things happened. Top ten lists get me down–I think things get left off. It’s too late for a gift guide. So why not…

Um, at first I was all, Decoupage? but then I recalled that Cabiria was the decoupager and you the decoupagee…or rather, you were the recipient of light bulbs that had been decoupaged. If that is not correct, then I am questioning your stability and am frightened for your sudden and perilous plunge into old-ladydom.
In other news, would I enjoy Adverbs? I feel I discussed this book with…someone…but am not sure when or with whom that happened. Tell me more!
